ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Liam Canning
Liam, now 67 years of age, is originally from Ballindrait, a small village, near Lifford in East Donegal in the Republic of Ireland but now lives just across the border in Strabane, Co. Tyrone, in Northern Ireland with his wife Helen and their two cats and a dog,. He is a father of three, has four grandchildren and two great-grand-children. He retired in 2018 from a long and successful career as a Social Worker in the field of Disability, spanning over 30 years. Liam describes himself as “an ordinary man, nothing special, nothing grand” who is devoted to his family.
One of his passions is reading about, and watching television shows about crime mysteries – both real-life and non-fiction and it was his interest in these that eventually led him to embark on writing his book about the murder of his Aunt Gertrude, his father’s sister in Scotland, back in 1942.
He lists his interests as: socializing and spending time with family, playing guitar, Videography and watching World War 2 movies. He also likes to keep up-to-date with on-going developments in the world of Social Work and Social Care concerning the Elderly and the Disabled. Liam also says he likes to “chop sticks’ and prepare kindling for the “fire” in his backyard, describing this activity as ‘therapeutic’ and a valuable escape from the everyday stresses and strains of daily life.
